The principles and indeed the processes behind both of these methods are very similar. The concept was to innovate a system of dealing with the body, in a way that was much more environmentally friendly than cremation, whilst also reducing the pressures on land needed for burial plots.

Both processes involve using Liquid Nitrogen to freeze the body, and then through slightly different fragmentation methods, the brittle body is reduced down to a granular form. After the water (approx. 70% of the human body) has then been evaporated off, the idea is to then inter the granular remains in the top soil, so that the nutrients can be rapidly reabsorbed back into the earth. A plant or tree can then be placed on the grave to absorb the nutrients and become a symbol of the person/family or just a possibility for new life.

Whilst the idea has been banded about for some years now, it is only recently that there has actually been success with this freeze/fragmentation process which can enable it to be used commercially for both humans or animals.

Lastly, I have been asked to clarify that Promession and Cryomation are processes researched and developed by two seperate parties, who are totally independent of each other. With this in mind, I have listed them seperately below to hopefully avoid any confusion.
