East London Crematorium in Plaistow, London Borough of Newham adjoins East London Cemetery, which started receiving burials in 1872.
The non-denominational cremation chapel has space for 100 people to attend a service, with seating for 70 people. Music can be performed on an organ and recorded pieces can be played on a CD player. Families can request the service to be taped on a cassette in advance.
The chapel has toilets and disabled facilities.
The crematorium offers several different types of memorials for families to commemorate their loved one, including private gardens.
East London Crematorium is currently being refurbished to provide vaults and mausoleums.
The office is open 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. The gardens are open 08:30am-5pm Monday to Friday, and 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday. The Book of Remembrance room is open 9am-4:30pm Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30 pm Saturday and 10am-4:30pm Sunday.
