West Suffolk Crematorium

West Suffolk Crematorium is situated in in Risby, near Bury St. Edmund’s and surrounded by 13 acres of beautiful countryside.

The crematorium has two multi-faith chapels. The first chapel, which has served the local community since 1989, can seat 96 mourners, with standing space for up to 40 more people. The second chapel, called the Abbey Chapel, was opened in 2018 and can seat up to 60 mourners, with standing space for 20-30 others.

In both chapels music can be performed by resident organists on the crematorium’s own organs; an extensive range of recorded pieces can be selected from an Obitus Digital System.
Funeral services in both chapels can be webcast to people who are unable to attend in person, or recorded on audio CDs or DVDs.
After the service floral tributes can be displayed on the flower terrace for at least 2 days, and donated for display in the chapel.
West Suffolk Crematorium can provide in-house catering for funeral receptions and wakes. There is a traditional cemetery and natural burial ground attached to the crematorium.

An extensive range of traditional, contemporary and living memorials can be installed in the gardens of remembrance and visitors to the gardens of remembrance can purchase refreshments at the Meadow Cafe.

The crematorium’s office, gardens and grounds are open all year round: the office is open 9am-5:30pm Monday to Friday, all year round, and the gardens are open 8am-5:30pm on weekdays and 9am-5:30pm on weekends and bank holidays. The cafe is open 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday.
