We have resources and advice for parents, carers, family, and friends when trying to arrange a funeral for a child.
We also have information available in our bereavement advice section.
I stand here, yet I don’t know how,
I don’t crumble to the ground,
I’ve been lost and broken since you left,
So sad you’re not around.
We held hands and laughed a lot,
And at times we shared some tears,
But together we could face the world,
And challenge all our fears.
I held onto you from your first day,
You were loved with all my heart,
Sadly now that heart’s broken,
My life, it’s torn apart.
Loss it is so cruel,
A sadness that can burn,
Little things can haunt you,
With darkness at every turn.
Your heart though knows that you are good,
You did your best each day,
And though time it may have been brief,
It was special in every way.
You are struggling right now,
But that’s perfectly okay,
Life is cruel and so unfair,
There is little more to say.
You may not feel it deep inside,
But believe me you are strong,
Look at all that you’ve achieved,
So much right, so little wrong.
You might think that it is your fault,
But that simply isn’t true,
Life can be so cruel at times,
And there’s nothing you can do.
Yes, it is the hardest thing,
For you to have to take,
Losing a child, it is not fair,
But there’s choices you can make.
I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief.
